Will Robert Downey Jr Join The Captain America 3 Cast?

We all got saddened by the news that Robert Downey Jr is not reprising his role in a 4th Iron Man installment. As you may recall, he made this statement at The Late Show a couple of days ago: "There [are] no plans for an Iron Man 4. There is no script. I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's going to be plenty of fun stuff to happen."

A bit cryptic, huh. But according to Variety, Robert is in negotiation and may end up playing the role of Tony Stark in another Marvel movie: Captain America 3! This news came after everyone got confirmation that he is joining two other big movies: The Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3.

Eonline.com has this news:

It appears Stark will go up against Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) as they battle over the Superhero Registration Act, which forces anyone with superhuman abilities to reveal their identities to the government.

The exciting news surrounding Downey's new role comes the same day Marvel announced plans to reboot the Civil War comic book miniseries next year. According to Marvel's Twitter, "#CivilWar #1" is expected to be released in summer 2015.

Recently, Downey confirmed that another popular franchise was changing its course. Despite major success at the box office, Iron Man 4 was not going to proceed.

Marvel declined to comment on Variety's story.

Wow! I loved the whole Civil War storyline, and I'm hoping that it could be translated into an excellent movie experience for all of us. A series, perhaps?
